BLANC was founded in 2011 by Ludovic Blanc. Ludovic wanted to build a business that mattered, and to help improving people’s health and the environment by “cleaning up” an industry that was toxic and rather set in its old-fashioned ways.
What more quintessentially toxic than the dry-cleaning industry?
For months Ludovic wondered what it would look like without the toxic smells and chemicals, until he discovered a tried and tested technology. This technology was slowly gaining popularity in other countries, but was lacking the investment and commitment to make things change in the UK.
With a great-grandmother who worked as a launderer, his friends convinced him that ‘clean’ was not only in his name…but also in his genes.
Ludovic had found his fight, and he has been working countless hours since then to bring this technology to the UK and prepare for the opening of several stores.
BLANC opened its doors in Marylebone at 79 George Street (close to Bond Street tube station) in 2013. A second store opened 18 months later in Notting Hill, at 77 Lonsdale Road, delivering a healthier, better quality and alternative to dry cleaning, with results that speak for themselves – cleaner, softer, “greener” clothes.
Ludovic's co-founder and partner Mathilde made sure that BLANC's commitment to eco-friendly, natural cleaning and homes did not end with dry cleaning. She has carefully curated BLANC Home, a carefully selected range of products from the most environmentally friendly and natural brands in the UK and Europe. These can be browsed in our concept stores and also bought online, and include a collection of natural detergents, delicate organic soaps and decorative items from House Doctor, Common Good, Tangent Garment Care or Marius Fabre. Now you can beautify your interior while respecting the environment and supporting sustainable causes at home.
